The monsoon takes a snooze while the heat roars back

TUCSON – Saturday’s soaking rains were nice while they lasted, but get ready for a persistent period of storm-free skies.

And oh, by the way, the heat is making a comeback.

Close to record heat is in the forecast Wednesday and Thursday, before minor cooling and slight storm chances arrive late this week.

Weekend rain helped Tucson’s monsoon deficit, but not nearly enough.

The airport now sits at 2.22″ of monsoon rain, just over an inch shy of average 3.32″.
