More drought relief and heat is nearing

TUCSON – Drought conditions for the State of Arizona were released today and it’s more good news. Check it out.

As of today, 82% of the State is drought free! Only 18% of the State is considered ‘abnormally dry’ while fewer than 5% of the State is in ‘Moderate drought.’

The Moderate drought is mainly for Apache County near the Four Corners and with a few systems in the forecast swinging to the north, this could help reduce this 5% even more.

Meanwhile as these mentioned systems drift to the north of Tucson, we’ll see afternoon breezes and periods of high clouds with temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s through the weekend.

Early next week a large dome of high pressure will build over the region and temperatures will reach 90 degrees in Tucson by Monday or Tuesday:  the first time since late October. So it’s been a nice ‘cool’ stretch.
