TUCSON – We’re about to ring in 2019 with rain and snow across Southern Arizona.
A storm system started moving into Southern Arizona Monday afternoon from the north, bringing a chance for rain and snow to Southern Arizona Monday evening into Tuesday afternoon.
Rain amounts are expected to be light to moderate – less than 0.5”
Another 8-18” of snow will be possible for elevations above 7,000 feet. Snow could drop to the valley floors with this storm system and bring the Tucson Metro a dusting of snow.
A Winter Weather Advisory and Winter Storm Warning are in effect for portions of Southeast Arizona through Tuesday at 5 p.m.. Slippery road conditions and low visibilities are possible with this system.
Behind this cold front, temperatures will be near-freezing and freezing during the overnight hours over the next several days with lows dropping to the 20s and 30s.
A Hard Freeze Warning will be in effect for portions of the Tucson metro Tuesday and Wednesday evening.
Later this week, temperatures will start to warm back up to the mid 60s, which is near the seasonal average.
