El Tour de Tucson kicked off with cultural entertainment

TUCSON – The first day of El Tour de Tucson began on Thursday.

The three-day event includes a festival, expo and bike ride.

Registration and festivities were held at Armory Park in downtown Tucson for the weekend event.

El Tour organizers have selected unique themes for each day with ‘Love Tucson’ being the theme for Thursday’s cultural entertainment.

Gerald Feigin, an event participant, said the tour was like a gathering of friends but the major takeaway is that money is being raised for charities.

El Tour de Tucson will use an app for the first time called ‘Race Joy’ which uses smartphones to provide real-time GPS for riders’ locations.

Using this app will allow for interaction and information for loved ones and spectators.
