Raytheon announces plan to add 1,000 more jobs in Tucson

TUCSON- One of southern Arizona’s largest employers U.S. defense contractor Raytheon announced that it has an annual economic impact of $2.6 billion to Arizona.

Arizona State University’s Seidman Institute conducted the findings of the economic impact from analyzing the company’s contributions to the state in the form of wages, taxes, suppliers and other key indicators.

Raytheon officials said that increased sales, new hiring and additional infrastructure have helped fuel this increase.

Nearly 13,000 employees work in Arizona, according to Raytheon’s president.

The missile manufacturer also announced Wednesday morning it plans to add 1,000 more jobs over the next couple of years in Tucson.
