Oro Valley woman bit by possibly rabid skunk near Catalina State Park

TUCSON – Arizona Game and Fish Department is investigating a potential rabies incident after an Oro Valley woman was bitten by a skunk near Catalina State Park Tuesday.

According to officials, the skunk, which was first spotted west of Catalina State Park, maybe in the area of Ram Fields Pass Road.

The woman has since been treated and released from the hospital.

AZGFD has encountered 27 rabies cases in Pima County this year. Department officials said Pima County currently leads all other counties in Arizona in rabies cases in 2019.
