WASHINGTON — In a court filing, Pentagon officials said there was not enough money to construct barriers on some parts of the U.S.- Mexico border.
Officials said there were insufficient contract savings to complete some of the projects previously authorized by the Secretary of Defense.
“Therefore, the Department of Defense has decided not to pursue Yuma Sector Projects 4 and 5, and Tucson Sector Project 4 at this time,” read the filing.
Tucson Sector Project 4 involved an area about 9 miles east of the Nogales Port of Entry.
The filing comes more than a month after the U.S. Supreme Court cleared the way for the Trump administration to tap into defense funds for border wall construction.
