TUCSON – East side drivers will be experiencing heavy delays starting Monday as the Valencia Road Improvement Project will prompt closures in both directions between Wilmot and Kolb roads.
According to Tucson Department of Transportation, construction crews will be developing a section of Valencia from Kolb to the southeast ramp. This construction will temporary close Valencia for four months starting Monday at 10 a.m.
This project, which is part of the $2.1 billion Regional Transportation Authority Plan, will widen Valencia Road into six lanes of travel, increasing the roadway capacity while improving safety conditions in the area.
New bike lanes, sidewalks, drainage structures, lighting, traffic signals and landscaping will be installed in relation to this project.
