Man struck by car near Stone, Alturas succumbs to injuries

TUCSON – A man who was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Stone Avenue and Alturas Street Feb. 13 has died from his injuries, police announced Tuesday.

Tucson Police Department said a pedestrian was crossing Stone Avenue Feb. 13 at around 8:30 p.m. when he was struck by a gold 2005 Dodge Caravan. He was transported with serious life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses at the scene told TPD that the pedestrian was running across the street and crossed directly in front of the Caravan. Police say the pedestrian was not in the crosswalk when he was struck. He was also reportedly wearing black clothing at the time of the incident.

Speed does not appear to be a factor in the incident. No citations or arrests have been made.

Authorities say the pedestrian passed away to his injuries Feb. 17. His identity has not yet been released.

The investigation is on-going.
