Steve Nuñez is a 6th generation Tucsonan born and raised in the heart of downtown. He graduated from the University of Arizona and is a pioneer of the first Hispanic fraternity on campus, Omega Delta Phi.
Steve is an award winning journalist celebrating more than 20 years working in television news. Besides reporting on Immigration issues along the U.S. Border and in Mexico, Steve has covered presidential elections in Mexico City, federal court cases in Phoenix involving Arizona’s immigration law (SB1070), and space shuttle launches in Florida.
Steve believes in advocacy journalism that gives “voice” to common people while holding those in powerful positions accountable.
Perhaps the most rewarding contribution to community comes from Steve’s annual Christmas toy give-a-way party, “Miracle En El Barrio.” For the last 14 years, “Miracle” has provided toys to more than 28,000 poor kids in Tucson!
