Statement win for No. 10 Arizona over No. 11 Oregon
TUCSON (KVOA) - The 10th ranked Arizona women's basketball team rebounded from a heart-breaking, overtime, buzzer-beating loss on the road to Washington State with a statement win over No. 11 Oregon.
Arizona jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first half and never looked back in the 57-41 blowout.
It was the first victory in eleven games for the Wildcats against Oregon, and the first career win for Coach Adia Barnes.
Ari McDonald scored 16 points and had four steals as Arizona full-court pressed from the opening tip to jump out to the dominant lead.
Senior Sam Thomas, who was relieved to beat Oregon for the first time in her four-year career, chipped in with ten points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
The Wildcats will play Oregon State on Sunday at McKale Center, with a tipoff at 2 p.m.
