Gunnell showed his arsenal in debut performance

TUCSON – UA freshman quarterback Grant Gunnell saw his first collegiate action on Saturday night against Northern Arizona, going 9-for-11 with 151 yards and three touchdowns through the air.

His night included a 75-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Thomas Reid III, the wideout’s first career scoring catch.

Gunnell arrives here in Tucson as the most prolific high school passer in Texas state history; he totaled 16,108 passing yards and 195 touchdowns – both state records – in three-plus seasons as the starting quarterback at St. Pius X High School in Houston, Texas.
