Ball State rallies past Wildcats for second straight day
TUCSON (KVOA) -- No. 22 Arizona Baseball believes they have their best pitching since the arrival of Jay Johnson in 2015.
Now, it’s time to prove it.
The Wildcats are off to a 1-2 start to the 2021 season after dropping a second straight game to Ball State Sunday.
The Cardinals rallied for four runs in a 6th to win 5-2 on Sunday.
UA has a 3.12 ERA through the first three games so they’ve pitched well enough.
Hitting has been the issue and in particular hitting with runners in scoring position.

Arizona had a bases-loaded one-out opportunity in the 3rd inning and didn’t score. The Wildcats also stranded runners at 2nd and 3rd in the 4th.
UA won 3-0 on Friday night behind ace transfer Chase Silseth and reliever Preston Price who combined for 11 of the pitching staff’s 14 strikeouts.
The Wildcats though blew a 7-3 on Saturday night before losing 8-7 in 11 innings.
The two teams will wrap up their four-game series on Monday morning at 10 a.m.
