GIRLS: Arguellez scores career-high 39 in Flowing Wells win

TUCSON - Milinda Arguellez was unstoppable Tuesday night for Flowing Wells in the Caballeros 64-49 victory over Flowing Wells on Senior Night.

The junior guard scored a career-high 39 points. The third 30-plus point game of her career and first this season. Arguellez is the team's leading scorer at 18 points per game.

Flowing Wells (19-7, 9-1) are champions of the Conference 5A Sonoran Region. It's their fifth Region championship under head coach Michael Perkins who is in his 15th season at the school. Perkins lead the program to its lone state championship in 2008.

The Caballeros, winners in nine of their last ten games, entered Tuesday night ranked ninth. They will need to finish in the Top 8 to avoid the play-in round of the state tournament. The final rankings will be released on Wednesday.

Mountain View (12-11, 6-4) will be sweating out those final rankings. The Mountain Lions are currently ranked 22nd and will need to finish in the Top 24 to make the play-in round of the 5A state tournament.

The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Mountain View. Flowing Wells won both meetings between the two teams this season
