Jamir Gasaway electrified the crowd on the Cougars’ first play from scrimmage taking a power-sweep pitch by Devyn Roberts 61 yards for the game’s opening score.

Sabino tied the game on a 16-play 88-yard drive that culminated in a two-yard touchdown pass from AJ Skaggs to Diego Armijo.

The junior and senior connected for a pair of scores in the game.

That was as good as it got for the Sabercats (1-1).

Sahuaro came right back and scored on their next possession on a 42-yard touchdown run by Trevion Watkins.

Skaggs then made his biggest mistake of the night, an errant throw that was picked off by the Cougars Calen McFarland and returned 45 yards for a touchdown.
