MARANA – The speed limit on Interstate 10 and Ina Road is “What’s Driving” News 4 Tucson viewers crazy.
The overpass opened up in March but more work was left to do.
News 4 Tucson viewer, Ken calls it a hazard because drivers are doing 65 or 70 miles per hour then have to slow down to 55.
“Why do drivers have to slow down?”
News 4 Tucson’s Allie Potter spoke with the Arizona Department of Transportation and they said it all boils down to safety.
Crews are still working on the Ina Road Project, so the 55 miles per hour speed limit remains in effect for the safety of the workers.
ADOT said it would be more difficult and confusing to drivers if the speed limit kept changing. So that is why they left it at 55.
The project will be complete this month and then speed limit will return to the original limit.
ADOT said they appreciate drivers’ patience.
