ALBANY, Wis. (CNN) - A 16-year-old boy is charged with killing his own newborn daughter in Albany.

The details about this crime are disturbing. Reader discretion is advised.

Sixteen-year-old Logan T. Kruckenberg Anderson is facing charges of first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse.

He had his initial appearance in court Tuesday.

"Obviously, this is the worst that it gets, first-degree intentional homicide," Judge Thomas Vale said. "You look at the penalties, lifetime imprisonment."

Born on Jan. 5, the baby was reported missing on Saturday, Jan. 9.

The criminal complaint states Kruckenberg Anderson originally told investigators that he and the teenage mother agreed they should give her up for adoption.

He initially said he paid someone $60 to take the girl to an adoption agency in Madison.

When investigators interviewed him again, he says he actually put the baby in a backpack and took her to a wooded area in the village of Albany.

He told investigators that he then placed the naked child inside a fallen tree and covered her with snow.

On Sunday, law enforcement found the newborn, dead... Shot in the head.

According to the criminal complaint, he later told investigators he shot her twice.

Prosecutors called for a $1 million bond.

So did the child's maternal grandmother.

Andrea Winder, maternal grandmother:

"We agree with what the state is proposing," Winder said. "We feel that it is very overwhelmingly necessary to keep him in custody for the safety and wellbeing of our entire family."

The 16-year-old is expected to be tried as an adult.
