Sierra Vista woman arrested for embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (KVOA) - A 46-year-old woman from Sierra Vista was taken into custody on Tuesday after an 11-month investigation into the embezzlement of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

According to Sierra Vista Police Department, Patricia Bowman was taken into custody after her payroll company, Daystar Payroll, LLC was placed under investigation.

SVPD said through her company, Bowman reportedly "faked tax documents and provided false documents to the business to embezzle hundreds of thousands of dollars" between January 2012 and October 2019.

Police said the assessed fines and penalties from the U.S. Treasury Department of the companies involved were more than $1.2 milion.

Bowman was booked into the Cochise County Jail on "41 felony charges including fraud, theft, money laundering, and forgery. She is being held on a $200,000 bond."
