Amphitheater elementary school sees positive case of COVID-19

TUCSON (KVOA) - A positive case of COVID-19 was reported at an Amphitheater elementary school, according to a letter sent out to parents Friday morning.

According to officials with the Amphitheater Public Schools, Mesa Verde Elementary School administration was made aware of an individual who tested positive for the virus was recently present on its campus.

The district said Pima County Health Department is currently conducting contact tracing in connection to the case to determine if anyone else at the school was exposed to the virus.

The school advised its families to be extra vigilant for symptoms of the coronavirus at this time. Those symptoms include fever, loss of smell or taste, cough, muscle aches, sore throat, shortness of breath, chills, headache or any gastrointestinal symptoms.
