TUCSON – Those who have spent time in prison know how hard it can be once you get out.
Eighteen probationers were recognized for their journey to success Monday night at the Pima County Superior Court.
Jessie McReynolds spent 18 years in prison and was sentenced to 2 years of probation.
He was honored for the grit and courage it took to become a productive member of society. Don Weaver, McReynolds's probation officer, was there with him.
Weaver says McReynolds looked bad on paper when he was first assigned to his case. He asked McReynolds, “Why is it going to be different this time?”
“Jessie is a delightful person,” Weaver said. “I look forward to seeing him, I mean I can't say that about everybody regardless of who they are.”
“It took me 40 years to turn my life around,” said McReynolds. “And with the help of god my daughter, Mr. Weaver and a great boss that I got, I finally turned everything around and got my life in order.”
Each probationer that was honored was nominated by their probation officer.
