NEW YORK (NBC NEWS) – The next generation of the New York City Fire Department is a legacy to those lost on Sept. 11, 2001.
The current firefighter training class includes 13 members who are the children of fallen firefighters.
That’s the highest number ever.
The class includes brother and sister Marc and Rebecca Asaro who lost their dad, Carl, on 9-11.
Their mom spoke to NBC News’ Lester Holt about her pride.
