TUCSON (KVOA) - A kid's appreciation for his mother's fight against the coronavirus is today's version of KVOA's "Heroes ofCOVID-19."

"My mom (Natalie Norem) is always working so hard, and I believe she deserves something for once," said Otto-Olendorf, a second-grader at Basis."

He wrote to KVOA News 4 Tucson because he wanted to make sure his mother was honored for her service as a nurse practitioner who balances being a full-time mother while helping COVID-19 patients and others in need at Tucson Medical Center.

"She's always tired, and she has so much work to do," said little Otto. "She's always caring, even if it's a lot of work."

Otto's mother, Natalie, said, "Full disclosure, I do not think I'm a hero. As a nurse, I feel that many of us in the profession feel that it's our duty to care for people and care for patients.  The pandemic is not going to get in the way of that."

Otto had had a suggestion for KVOA viewers:

"If you're watching this right now, I would just say, maybe you should try to go on that website and nominate your parents."
