AIA reinstates high school winter sports season
(KVOA) - The Arizona Interscholastic Association voted 5-4 Tuesday to reinstate the winter sports season.
On Friday, the AIA voted 5-4 to cancel the season.
According to a statement from the AIA's executive board, the season will be reinstated with the modifications published on Nov. 30, 2020 and will be adding the following:
- Students, coaches, and officials are required to wear face coverings
- Each school will complete the AIA COVID-19 Athlete/ Coach Monitoring
- Up to two parents of legal guardians may attend their student's home games as allowed by the school and county guidelines
- Any school that violates any mandatory modifications, including the COVID-19 Return to Play Form, will lose access to AIA officiating.
Winter season will commence on Jan. 18.
