BENSON, Ariz.- The American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge awarded grants to more than 170 elementary schools across the country to encourage kids to be active.
Benson Primary School was one of the schools to receive the money to provide health equipment and resources for students.
“I was in disbelief when I heard my school was a grant recipient,” said Amanda Trujillo from Benson Primary School. “I know so many applied and it was thrilling to get this news! I am so excited to bring volleyball in the primary school with these funds as it’s my favorite sport and this grant will support the need for equipment.”
Grant recipients are able to implement additions to their school like a mobile salad bar, CPR training resources, and water bottle filling stations.
The American Heart Association’s goal is to help educators make whole-body wellness a priority in school’s across the country.
