Two card skimming devices found at gas station near Benson

DRAGOON, Ariz. – Cochise County Sheriff’s Office issued a warning to the public Monday afternoon after a credit card skimming device was discovered at a fuel pump at a gas station near Benson.

According to CCSO, Bowlings, INC store personnel located two skimming devices that appeared to be Bluetooth capable at the station located on Johnson Road.

The sheriff’s office released the following tips to help people avoid getting their credit card information stolen by a card skimmer.

  • Use the pump nearest to the front door in sight of the clerks.
  • Go inside and pay.
  • Use a gas station charge card (that is not so useful to criminals).
  • Report any suspicious looking equipment to the store staff immediately.
