UA invents eyewear to help legally blind see

TUCSON – A high-tech eyewear system developed by the University of Arizona is helping people who are legally blind or have impaired eyesight see.

Hong Hua, a professor of Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona, and her team developed the technology with the help of Tech Launch Arizona. They were able to patent and license the product to eSight Corporation.

“The cameras, for example, are capturing the surrounding environments and that information gets sent to the computer system in this headset and the computer system displays the information onto two very tiny we call it macro displays with very small pixels,” said Professor Hua.
