TUCSON – A young Guatemalan woman was rescued by U.S. Border Patrol agents Sunday while tracking a group of migrants near Arivaca.
Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents encountered the unconscious woman as they followed a path of footprints in the Tumacacori Mountains that agents suspected were from a group of migrants traveling through the area.
Border Patrol medical staff assisted the woman and moved her to a spot where she could be airlifted to a local hospital. The woman has since been released and is being processed for immigration violations.
This past week, agents rescued an additional 11 people after the called 911 asking for help.
