Emu keeps DPS emu-sed after escaping from home in Maricopa

TUCSON – While it may sound like a bit of “ostrich” – get it? – Arizona Department of Public Safety spent a portion of their Tuesday rescuing an 80-pound bird off the highway.

According to DPS, an emu escaped from its home in Maricopa on Tuesday. Officials say with help from a few bystanders, a DPS trooper was able to safely contain the feathered giant.

DPS said after the emu was brought home, the owner gave it a bath to help the bird cool down from the experience.
