UA Student Union renovations provide inclusive stage access

TUCSON – The University of Arizona’s Grand Ballroom underwent renovations to make the stage accessible for those who can’t use stairs.

“We have completely updated the stage so it is a more inclusive and more open to all of our guests that attend any event in the Grand Ballroom,” said Neysha Aguilar with the Arizona Student Unions.

Part of the design included replacing stairs on both sides of the stage with ramps making sure all guests have the same experience during events.

“We finally have a stage that we can showcase for the upcoming fall semester,” she said.

The Grand Ballroom can hold 1,900 people and Aguilar said that with about 30,000 events happening each year it provides stage access to all participants.
