Man charged for DUI, criminal damage after crashing into saguaro

TUCSON – After getting in a sticky situation Wednesday morning, a driver involved in the saguaro-vehicle collision was charged for criminal damage and driving under the influence.

According to Pima County Sheriff’s Department, 39-year-old Kai Scott reportedly crashed into a saguaro near the intersection of First Avenue and Agave Drive at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. PCSD said the cactus reportedly slammed through the vehicle’s windshield.

Officials say the saguaro just missed the driver in the incident, with only minor injuries reported in the crash.

PCSD detained Scott a short time later after he allegedly showed signs of impairment.

Scott was charged with DUI and one count of criminal damage.
