Tucson man found guilty for murdering girlfriend in 2017

TUCSON – A verdict has been reached in the trial of the Tucson man accused of killing his girlfriend in 2017.

Back in 2017, Mario Jesus Dorame was taken into custody by Tucson Police Department one month after his girlfriend, Maria Escobedo was found dead by a family member at his home in the 5500 block of South Tyndall Avenue. Dorame was charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping and the abandonment or concealment of a body.

According to court officials, Dorame was found guilty of first-degree murder. A jury also found the Tucson man guilty for unlawful imprisonment, abandonment/concealment of a dead body and tampering with physical evidence.

The sentencing date is scheduled for July 12 at 9 a.m.
