PCSD honors fallen law enforcement officers

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department honored members of its team who made the ultimate sacrifice.

A fallen pilot, corrections officer, county ranger and 11 deputies were recognized for their selfless service.

The names of those killed in the line of duty were read aloud. They were also honored with a 21-Gun Salute.

“Three of the men on the memorial were personal friends of mine and I worked with them,” said Lt. Stephen Carpenter with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. “Days like today give a chance to bestow honors on them that are deserving.”

The ceremony falls during National Police Week, a time to keep the memories of fallen law enforcement officers alive.
