Back in 2012, PCSD responded to a report of a possible sexual assault of three children at a northeast side home. The girls, who were 6, 8 and 10 years old at the time, told PCSD that a man they did not know entered the bedroom they were staying in and sexually assaulted them.

The three children were visiting their grandparents in Tucson. Four years after the report, PCSD arrested Matthew Cartwright in reference to the incident on charges of sexual assault, sexual conduct with a minor and burglary.

On Wednesday, PCSD responded to a possible hazmat situation. After further investigation, responding deputies discovered the body of Matthew Cartwright in reference to the incident.

PCSD ruled that the cause of death was suicide.

Cartwright was scheduled to have a change of plea hearing in the case Friday.
