Drug-sniffing dog graduates

TUCSON – Diesel, an 18-month-old Labrador retriever graduated from an eight-week basic service dog training course Wednesday.

Diesel works at the Pima County Jail with his partner, Seargent Cesar Duarte.

The Labrador can detect heroin, marijuana and now cocaine and meth.

Jail officials say Diesel’s ability to detect drugs is invaluable because it discourages inmates from smuggling in contraband into the jail.
