TPD arrests man accused of shooting, killing partner during home invasion

TUCSON – A man was taken into custody Thursday in connection to a homicide on the south side of Tucson Monday.

According to Tucson Police Department, two men armed with guns forced their way into a residential unit at Mission Tierra Apartments, located near Mission and Drexel roads, Monday evening. An altercation ensued between the men and the residents of the apartment, resulting in one of the home invasion suspects shooting the other.

The home invasion suspect who was shot later died for the gunshot wound at the scene. Police have identified him as 32-year-old Rene Orantez Jr.

The other suspect fled the scene. He was later identified as 19-year-old Lorenzo Yslava.

Yslava was arrested Thursday after law enforcement officers served a felony arrest warrant at the Pasque Yaqui Resveration.
