TUCSON- This week is known as National Telecommunicators Week to honor the 911 dispatchers and recognize their hard work.
At the Pima County Sheriff’s Communication Center, a PCSD deputy said that there is a crucial need for more people to become dispatchers.
“Dispatchers are a crucial part to what we do every day,” said Deputy Tim Robertson. “They are the unsung heroes behind the scenes. They give us all the information you need to update us with information going to calls. They are great with the information they provide.”
The department is looking for applicants 18 years and older. The starting salary is $17.22/hour.
PCSD is accepting applications until Friday.
