UPDATE: Shooting, arson investigation in midtown neighborhood

UPDATE 3/17- The Tucson Police Department has identified the man accused of allegedly shooting a neighbor, setting multiple houses on fire and then shooting himself.

Authorities said interviews and evidence appear to show Donald Shoemaker, 54, was chasing after a female neighbor and intentionally “fire bombed” three homes in the area of 1400 East Duke Street near Roger Road.

Shoemaker reportedly shot the female neighbor at her home before returning to his own residence and shooting himself. He allegedly had prior incidents with neighbors and threatened to kill them, according to a TPD release.

Authorities said they found additional incendiary devices in Shoemaker’s home. Both he and the victim are currently hospitalized on life support.

TUCSON – A man and a woman have life-threatening injuries after Tucson Police responded to a call of a dispute near Roger Road and Vine Street Thursday night.

According to TPD, a 50-year old male threw two flammable devices at houses. The man then allegedly shot a 50-year-old female.

The woman was transported to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The man was also transported to Banner with what police say is a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

TPD says there is past history at the home.

Tucson Fire Department and crime scene investigators are on the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
