TUCSON – El Rio Health is close to opening a new center on Cherrybell Stravenue near 22nd Street and Kino Parkway.
The 48,900 square-foot facility’s grand opening ceremony is scheduled Thursday.
El Rio’s Broadway Health Center needed to relocate because of the Broadway Boulevard widening project.
The new facility will provide medical and dental care, including behavioral health and psychiatry services. Radiology, laboratory and pharmacy services will also be on the site.
El Rio bought the land from the City of Tucson in 2016. The project cost about $17 million, which included about $865,000 from private donations through the El Rio Health Center Foundation.
El Rio serves 1 out of 10 Tucsonans. It has a sliding fee scale and provided more than $10 million in charity care last year. It is the largest provider for uninsured and medicaid patients in Pima County.
