Man convicted for first-degree murder in death of Border Patrol agent
TUCSON – One of the seven men indicted for the 2010 murder of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry was convicted for first-degree murder Monday.
According to officials, Heraclio Osorio-Arellanes and four other members of a crew that planned on robbing marijuana smugglers encountered Terry and other agents who were on a stakeout in the southern Arizona desert. The 30-year-old Border Patrol agent was fatally shot in the encounter.
Osorio-Arellanes was arrested in Mexico in 2017 in connection to the case.
Osorio-Arellanes was found guilty for first-degree murder in connection to the 2010 shooting.

Six other men were indicted in connection to the case.
Rosario Rafael Burboa-Alvarez is serving a 27-year sentence for first-degree murder. Manuel Osorio-Arellanes, who pleaded guilty in 2014, is serving a 30-year sentence. Ivan Soto-Barraza, who was convicted by jury in 2015. is serving a life sentence.
Rito Osorio-Arellanes pleaded guilty to conspiracy and is currently serving an eight-year sentence. Authorities say he was present when the shooting occurred.
Jesus Leonel Sanchez Meza was convicted by jury in 2015 and is serving a life sentence. Jesus Rosario Favela Astorga is charged in connection to the murder and is awaiting extradition to the U.S., from Mexico.
