Man convicted for elderly abuse after allegedly whipping father with cord

TUCSON – A man was convicted Monday for allegedly abusing his 82-year-old father.

According to the Pima County Attorney’s Office, Aaron Gallego Rodriguez was taken into custody after he allegedly whipped his father with a cord.

His father, who lives in a senior living facility, received severe cuts and bruises all over his face, arms, back, chest and legs, according to PCAO.  Rodriguez also reportedly stole his father’s credit card and attempted to withdraw money from ATMs throughout Tucson.

Rodriguez was convicted for vulnerable adult abuse—domestic violence; aggravated assault, temporary/substantial disfigurement—domestic violence; and theft of a credit card.

His sentencing was scheduled for March 18.
