WWII veteran wants cards for his birthday

All he wants for his 96th birthday, is a few cards.

A World War Two veteran in California says his one wish is to get birthday cards, from anyone, anywhere, and his daughter is trying to make that happen.
Sue Morse, Duane Sherman’s daughter, says everyday he asks if she has checked the mail.

Sherman says all of his friends are gone, passed away before him. He said he didn’t feel like celebrating his birthday this year. So his daughter went on Facebook, and asked people to send him a card, to cheer him up.

Sue says her Dad isn’t just special to her, but to this country.
The Navy veteran, earned a Purple Heart for a mission in 1944.
He was a Chief Sonarman aboard the U.S.S. Lamson, and he remembers a moment a Kamikaze plane hit his ship.

Duane says the flames from the crash, were engulfing the bridge. 30 of his shipmates lost their lives in that action. Duane still has shrapnel in his back.

Duane’s birthday is December 30th.
You can send him a card at: Duane Sherman c/o Sue Morse, P.O. Box 794 Highland, CA 92346.
