Mug shot released of man accused of killing deputy US marshal

TUCSON — Tucson Police Chief Chris Magnus confirms to News 4 Tucson that a Deputy U.S. Marshal was killed in a shooting on 15th Ave. near Jacinto St. Thursday night.

Officials have identified the U.S. Marshal as 41-year-old Deputy U.S. Marshal Chase White, according to the Associated Press.

The marshal was serving a felony warrant on a man wanted on charges of stalking a law enforcement officer, said Magnus.

The suspect has been identified as 26-year-old Ryan Schlesinger.

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey took to Twitter to offer his condolences and prayers to the law enforcement officer’s family.

Tucson police confirmed shots were fired in the area of Jacinto and 15th Ave. at around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Officers said there was a heavy police presence in the area for the investigation.

The FBI is requesting residents who may have images, video or any other information connected to the incident to submit it to or call 623-466-1999.
