TUCSON – The Jazz Guild of Tucson has a new downtown home. The group celebrated the occasion on Tuesday, October 16 with a super jam launce party.
Over thirty musicians came together to play music and raise money for their season.
“Jazz is an important historical part of our history as Americans,” said Tony Frank, Director, and Founder of Jazz Guild Tucson. “It’s more than just coming out and listening. It’s a cause. It’s not a choice anymore. It’s a cause for us because it’s as American as anything you can imagine. I think it’s the most American thing we have.”
The Jazz Guild said they are bringing a new face to the Tucson jazz community by partnering with “Pay it Forward Tucson.” That is an organization that helps homeless veterans and low-income families. Proceeds from their performance will go to the organization.
They plan to have daily events like Tuesday night jam sessions, Wednesday night jazz forums for people to listen and ask questions, Thursday night concerts, Monday night pearl jam sessions, and kids programs.
The Galactic Center is located at 35 E. Toole in downtown Tucson.
