Crime Trackers: Midtown apartment resident seeks change after recent break-ins

TUCSON – After a wave of recent break-ins at in a midtown community, several residents said they have had enough.

One midtown resident said thieves have broken into his parking unit seven times. He said no matter what type of lock he puts on his unit, the thieves find a way to get through.

“They can just get a screwdriver or whatever, and just pop it out,” he said.

On Wednesday, the resident said thieves stole luggage and a coffee pot. However, the thieves stole some priceless items during another break-in.

“They took a lot of valuable stuff that my mom gave me when she passed away,” he said.

The townhouses that are being targeted by the thieves are located on the corner of Swan and Glenn roads. Despite the back parking lot equipped with gates, the thieves still find a way in.

The resident said he has contacted the complex manager and the property management company, North Star about the recent break-ins.

He was told to contact police, which has done numerous times.

“I feel it’s a security issue – safety for the elderly that live here,” he said.

News 4 Tucson contacted the management company. They failed to comment by the time the report aired at 5 p.m. Friday.
