TUCSON – It has been over a year since 31-year-old Manuel Valenzuela was shot and killed on the city’s south side.
It was the first homicide of 2018. It happened in the 200 block of West Bilby Road.
Tucson police need your help in bringing the people responsible to justice.
Homicide Sgt. Marco Borboa said the motive was robbery. He said Valenzuela and his brother were walking down Bilby Road at 4 a.m. when they were confronted by suspects.
He said, the brother complied, but Valenzuela had words with the suspects that led to a confrontation and the shooting.
Borboa said this was very much an active case and they have new information. However, they need the public’s help. He added if anyone was in the area and witnessed the fight to please come forward. He said any tip, no matter how insignificant it might be just might the information they need.
Victor Robles had just moved into the neighborhood when the shooting occurred. He said it is sad to lose a loved one. He also said it is a shame people do not want to talk he said he is sure someone knows something and they probably will not talk.
The family is devastated. They want answers. They want people to please come forward.
