TUCSON – Multiple law enforcement agencies are searching for 40-year-old Jamie Jackson.
A felony warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to show in court when a jury convicted of him of harassing and stalking his ex-girlfriend.
Tucson police detective Bill Leonard is the lead on the case. He spoke with News 4 Tucson and said in court the victim testified she was deathly afraid of Jackson. She has been taken to a safe place where Jackson will not find her.
He said in the three years he has been in the Domestic Violence unit, this and another case rank up there as far as being the worst he has seen.
He said stalking investigations are the only crimes that can prevent a homicide he added it is the buildup leading to the homicide event. The suspects are losing control of their victim and they are grasping at any and all opportunities to get back in control of the victim.
It’s very important to find Jamie Jackson who authorities said has also made threats of “suicide by cop”.
Detective Leonard said for the safety of the victim and the public he needs to be found, Leonard added Jackson has previously shown that he does not follow the rule of law and made evident by him not showing up for his verdict.
Jackson’s legal troubles are not over. He has two upcoming trials later this month in Superior Court. One on drug possession and the other, stalking and domestic violence charges involving the same victim.
Detective Leonard has a message for Jackson, “Turn yourself in, I don’t think you are necessarily an evil person but I want to make sure you are held accountable for your actions.”
