Crime Trackers: PCSD needs help to identify cigarette thieves

TUCSON – Pima County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying two men who stole $100 worth of cigarettes from a Circle K on Benson Highway.

One suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his teens or early 20s.  The other was said to be a Caucasian man also in his early 20s.

Pima County Sheriff’s Department

Deputy Dan Jelineo told News 4 Tucson one man walked into the Circle K and distracted the clerk. The other suspect ran behind the counter and started grabbing the cigarettes off the shelf. He placed the cigarettes in a plastic bag he brought with him.

Witnesses told detectives they saw both men jump into a brown sedan.

Detectives tracked down the driver of the car.  He was arrested and charged.  However, the charges were later dropped.

Jelineo added they need the public’s help in locating the two men because every time a shoplifter steals, it affects everyone. He added the businesses increase their prices to offset the costs. This passes the financial burden to the consumer.

If you have information call 911 or 88-CRIME.
