MARANA – A husband is behind bars for allegedly killing his wife.
According to Pima County Sheriff’s Department homicide detectives, 53-year-old David Duane Mann called 911 on Saturday to report that his wife had been injured.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they said they found his wife, Donna not breathing and showing obvious signs of trauma. They attempted to provide life-saving measures but they were unable to revive Donna.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
News 4 Tucson obtained a court document that stated, the deputies found Donna with a knife sticking out of her upper back. The knife was missing the handle.
Deputies also found signs of a struggle in the living room and kitchen. David Mann admitted they had a dispute earlier that day. He said he went into his room. When he came out, he found her lying on the ground.
Officials say Mann stated he did not remember what happened. Deputies noted he had scratches to his face, defects to his arms, blood on his hands and abrasions to both of his knees.
David Mann was detained and booked into the Pima County Jail on one count of second-degree murder.
He was placed on a $500,000 bond.
Neighbor’s told News 4 Tucson they are shocked to hear about the murder.
One neighbor, Sheila Sanders said she was them two weeks ago at a Christmas party. She said they were a nice couple who had grandchildren. They were looking forward to Christmas.
Officials said Donna and David have three grown children together.
Neighbors told News 4 Tucson the couple had been married over 30 years.
