Washed up humpback whale rescued by locals of Brazil beach

FLORIANPOLIS, Brazil (NBC NEWS) - A young humpback whale washed up on Lagoinha Beach near the southern Brazilian city of Florianopolis on Tuesday night.

Locals rushed to the whale's aid and where able to dislodge it from the surf and it swam back out to see Wednesday.

The approximately 30-foot whale was stuck in the surf on the popular tourist beach for some 15 hours.
