Suspect sought after $14K metal statue stolen from Hacienda Del Sol

TUCSON - A theft suspect is sought by Pima County Sheriff's Department after a sculpture valued at more than $14,000 was reportedly stolen from the Hacienda Del Sol Guest Ranch Resort parking lot on May 31.

According to PCSD, a six-foot-tall, steel statue entitled Angelica was reportedly on display for the resort's free drive-thru exhibition Saturday when it was reportedly stolen sometime between 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. Sunday.

The statue, which was created by John Benedict, reportedly weighs between 200 and 220 pounds.

“We are saddened by this theft and we hope someone has more information and will call the sheriff’s office and report its whereabouts,” said Sculpture Tucson founder, Jeff Timan.

PCSD did not yet release any information about a potential suspect.

Anyone with information about the theft that occurred at the resort located at 5501 N. Hacienda del Sol Rd. near Sunrise Drive is advised to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
